Sharing Knowledge Using Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server

PENSACOLA, FL - ITGulfCoast, an Information Technology Association for the Gulf Coast, will hold their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 30th at PJC Downtown. Chris McGrath, Manager of H2PC will discuss knowledge management and collaboration using Microsoft Office SHAREPOINT 2007 server.

Presentation Details

What is the best way to share knowledge in today’s “speed of ideas” based economy? Strong knowledge creation and collaboration processes are key to achieving a high performing organization. Historically done face to face, many still think that the creation of shared knowledge is only truly feasible within the same workgroup. Today organizational innovation involves a range of different stakeholder groups, spanning many different functional areas within and outside of organizations, and across global boundaries. So what is the best way to share knowledge in today’s “speed of ideas” based economy? The only answer is to leverage technology to provide optimal solutions and Microsoft Office SHAREPOINT Server 2007 (MOSS) is part of that answer.

MOSS 2007 is an integrated suite of easy-to-use server applications that provides a single platform to manage intranet, extranet and website applications across the enterprise. MOSS 2007 improves organizational effectiveness by offering one unified suite of enterprise-scale applications that satisfies diverse business-critical needs such as managing content, business processes, and business intelligence, enabling better informed decision making, and simplifying how people collaborate.

This presentation will not only introduce MOSS and its many business and technological capabilities, but tell you who is using it, how are they using it and why are they using it. Specifically, the presentation will address the overall capabilities of MOSS 2007 to familiarize the audience with the product and outline how to use it to include how to:

  • Manage content effectively to maximize information assets.
  • Accelerate internal and external shared business processes.
  • Efficiently find and access information to drive better-informed decisions through rich business intelligence features.
  • Share business information more effectively.
  • Provide IT with a single, integrated, extensible platform to manage internet, extranet, and website applications across the organization.
  • Connect people with information and expertise through rapid search and alerts
And best of all, the above can be done with extensible enterprise scalability, flexibility, and low total cost of ownership (TCO) for nearly any size or type organization.
